This past week we picketed in front of Jerry Falwell's Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA. This is the home territory of the Murch Family, being the closest city to where we live. Right across the street is the rented home of "Rev." Mel White, a sodomite who ghost-wrote Falwell's autobiography. White has an organization called "Soulforce" whose mission is to convince Christians that "Gay is OK with God". Three years ago, Dr. Falwell gave Mel White a platform in the spirit of "understanding". Preachers came from all over America to picket Dr. Falwell's church in protest.

Now Mel White is back, and Dr. Falwell was quoted in the paper as saying "Mel White is our friend, he is welcome in our church any time". He also said he had "no problem" with his church members attending Mel White's "Out and About in Lynchburg", the first Gay Pride event to take place in the city.

Two local Lynchburg residents, long time Operation Rescue folks David & Jeanette Lytle, asked Pastor Ralph Ovadal to come to Lynchburg to help us oppose Mel White's campaign of heresy in the city. Pastor Ralph supplied us with 12,000 high-quality flyers that were entitled "What the Bible Says About Homosexuality". For three days before the scheduled Pride Festival, we went door-to-door to over 5,000 homes in the city. We set up in the busiest intersections in towns with signs and banners. We handed out literature while the lights were red. We preached with "truth" horns (it's never "bull").  

The first night we set up in front of Mel White's home, across from Thomas Road Baptist Church. Pastor Ovadal and Pastor Richard Knodel of the Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church led the group in calls for repentance, scripture, imprecatory psalms and public rebuke of Mel White, for posing as a man of God and perverting His holy Word to try to convince people that God approves of sodomy.

White and the man he regularly sodomizes sat on their front porch with a few other of their equally deluded friends and pretended to listen intently. When one of the women let out a mocking laugh, Mel quietly rebuked her. He was trying desperately to look reasonable and have us appear as the evil hate-mongers.

They could only take so much though, and after about a half hour, they arose together and prayed to their god, huddling together and then raising their hands in "worship". Mel called on US to repent, they went in the house, slammed the door, slammed shut the windows and turned out the lights.

Saturday was the Big Day. Soulforce, Inc. had planned this for months and had advertised heavily for these events. Fortunately only about 200 folks showed up, a rather disappointing turn-out for them. It was a beautiful day in Riverside Park. Their events included sodomite poetry, sodomite lewd dancing, a drag queen, several sodomite singers of various unknown gender, a constant twisting of Scripture, and a mocking of Bible-believing Christians. It was truly a religious service they were holding.

Aaron, Ben and Sam Murch man a banner of truth at the entrance to the park, while the rest of the family stands facing the sodomite crowds inside the park. The sodomites marched to the park from the First "Christian" Church, a sodomite-affirming church in the city. Their signs are typical of what we hear on the streets all the time: "God loves me just the way I am". 

Sounds good. Just ain't so.

Present on Saturday were seven preachers and approximately 45 other Christians, some who just spontaneously showed up who live in town. We had pastors from Texas and Pennsylvania as well local pastors from Lynchburg and the surrounding towns. We used the truth horn at will, without any problem from the police. We trampled all over their perverse event, calling them to repentance and pointing them to the REAL love of Christ.

Young preacher shows up spontaneously to refute and rebuke the sodomites. Pastor of local black Baptist Church turns out as well. The LORD had led him to preach against sodomy for the last three weeks from the pulpit. He didn't know why. He knew nothing of the events until he heard the news stories about our street preaching and literature drops. He felt compelled to come! At right, Pastor Bill Weigert passionately preaches on Christ and his BRIDE to the confused sodomites.

There were several fruitful one-on-one discussions as a result. We pray that we may have turned one young lady away from a homosexual lifestyle that she was obviously recruited to. 

Sunday, a group went out to picket at Thomas Road Baptist Church. Soulforce was out front as well, declining yet another  invitation from Dr. Falwell to come inside. It should be noted here, that Mel and Gary, the men who sodomize each other and call themselves Christians, attend Falwell's church every week. Dr. Falwell refuses to obey the teachings of Paul to remove those from the church who continue in unrepentant sin. He instead, allows the wolves in among the flock that he is charged by God to protect. This is a serious matter. Full Quiver Mission heads to Rockford, Illinois for the last tour of the season from Oct. 31-November 4th. It's been a busy fall. The Word of God has gone forth; Public wickedness has been rebuked; The Gospel has been preached; Lives have been saved.
